Orange curd
At the time, during the Elizabethan period, this would have been seen as an exotic and I would imagine expensive luxury, Oranges as you know do not grow in England's damp and wet climate !
This curd has a surprising appearance, non Orange in colour and more akin to a Lemon colour, as we have said before there are no unnatural ingredients here so this demonstrates perfectly the difference between the Orange curd your used to eating with colourings added. A stunning but not over powering Orange scent greets you with every bite, taking you back to the warm and sunny climates to where the Oranges originally grew.
As you would expect the flavour has a sharp citrus kick and a natural lingering edge that over whelms your taste buds, this Orange curd I find is perfect for breakfast smeared lightly on toast. Refrigerate after opening.
